Dalit woman burnt over water issue

Here is another sad incident which took place on June 6, 2008. The Dalit people suffer from many kind of oppressions. In many regions they are not allowed to fetch water from the same well or handpumps.

The story from msn.com :

Harda (MP): An elderly Dalit woman was burnt alive allegedly by three members of an upper caste community over a dispute on fetching water from a village hand pump.Prembai, 55, suffered 80 per cent burns as she was set ablaze on Tuesday, Abhishek Ranjan, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, said today. The incident took place at Harda's Kantada village where Prembai was stopped from using the village hand pump by three upper caste persons, Ranjan said.A quarrel erupted as she refused to budge, following which Hiralal, Dinesh and Rajendra allegedly set her on fire, he said adding Prembai succumbed on Wednesday. The incident came to light yesterday when Kantada villagers, along with the her body, held demonstrations in front of the Harda Collectorate demanding action against the accused.A complaint in this connection has been registered by Hukumchand, the deceased's husband, Ranjan said adding only after verifying the charges, a case of murder will be registered against the accused.

Remember, Jesus talking to an untouchable woman two thousand years ago and asking water from her. He gave her life and the water of life. He went into her community, stayed with them, talked to them, drank their water and taught them that God loves them too. So many women and their people are waiting for same Jesus message of hope for them.

Dalit minor boys paraded naked...

The Kanjar people group ( http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-dalit.htm) have no home of their own. They live in the tents and plastic sheets. They wander in search of food to the jungles and wherever they can. By hunting small birds, rabits, cats, mouse they make their foods.

The children suffer the most from this people group. Because in many cases the father drinks and sleeps in the tent and the children bring the food from outside by begging or hunting birds etc.

The mainlanders, have never asked them, what's wrong with them. Or how can they improve their life styles but they think they are more holier than the Kanjars. There has been no clear scheme or plans politically or religiously for them.

Here is a sad story, which took place on May 12th/2008.

JAIPUR: In yet another instance of mob justice, two Dalit minors were paraded naked for allegedly killing birds at Byawar village in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district. While the reprehensible incident took place three days ago, police learned about it only on Sunday and arrested two of the several accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The minors, identified as Vinod (12) and Sagar (10), belong to the Kanjar tribe. The two were caught by villagers while they were catching birds and, on rummaging through through their bags, were found with a few pigeons and partridges. Furious villagers then beat up the boys and stripped them naked in public, police said. The villagers then called a barber and got their heads tonsured before parading them naked in the village.*

The question should be asked to those people; what is more important between the birds and those hungry children?

Before punishing these minors (ten years and twelve years) how much did they contribute to their lives? Did they provide any food or cloth help to them?

When these children grow up what kind of attitude will they devolep toward their fellow beings?

Aren't they punished for their karmas? Because they were not born in high castes or in a "civilized Hindu society".

We people proudly sing, "Bachhe man ke sachhe sare jag ki aankhe ke tare
Ye wo nane phool hai, jo bhagwan ko lagte payare..."
(Children are of true nature, whole world like them, god like these little flowers).

Where is the true Indian spirit for the little children?

Lord Jesus Christ said, "Let the little children come to me, do not hinder them". He loves children. And not only during His earthly ministry but He said to His disciples, serve them, care for them, bless them, feed them, clothe them, educate them. This what He meant when he touched those little ones, took them in His arms and blessed them. Jesus had to correct His disciples to care for them.

Today there are thousand of children from poor, dalits, leper, blind, rag picker and orphan background helped by the Christian brothers and sister in India and all over the world. The main goal is to see them happy and make them future better citizens and to serve God, who created them.

Will you my friends learn a lesson to take up the issue of these precious children? Will you care for them? Will you do something for them?

He Makes NO Distinction

Apostle Peter was not an easy going man. He was an orthodox Jew. He followed His religion very carefully. He had never been to any outcaste’s home for a visit or fellowship.

Was there anyone who could change person like Peter? Peter told while entering a Gentile home, that it is unlawful for a Jew to enter and eat with a person out of Jewish faith (Acts 10:28). No, human could change his perspectives.

But Peter had a vision from God to learn an important lesson. After that only he went to preach the word in the house of a Gentile, named Cornelius, he saw a great work of God. During his preaching, the Holy Spirit of God came upon Cornelius’ family and friends. This was too wonderful for Peter but He witnessed this with his very own eyes (Acts 10:44). This incident opened his eyes and he exclaimed, “I know realize how true it is that God accepts men from every nation who fear Him and do right (Acts 10:34).”

Peter made this statement “But God has shown me that I should not call any man impure or unclean (Acts 10:28b).

So my friends how change in the society or person is possible? What can make people love each other? What can bring them together if they had been separated for centuries?

Find these answers in the Holy Word of God. With God all things are possible. He can make people different. He can make their philosophy different. He can change their worldviews. He can give new meanings to their lives.

If you wish to see change, I invite to you to consider the Word of God revealed in the Bible and The True God Himself, who sets captives free. Be they of any kind! Peter a rigid man, was changed fully. See his declaration; “God made no distinction between us (Jewish) and them (Gentiles) for He purified their hearts by faith”(Acts 15:9). God unites people in Christ; they become one body, one family of God.

There is hope for India and Nepal too.
